Promethium: Democratizing AI and Data One Question at a Time - A Letter By New CEO Prat Moghe

I am excited to share that I have joined Promethium as their new CEO. I feel privileged to team up with our founder Kaycee Lai. His vision has been prescient and under his leadership our team - which we proudly refer to as Prometheans - has developed a unique offering with transformational potential. Promethium is backed by top investors and board members including Ganesh Bell (Insight Partners), Graham Brooks (.406 Ventures), Jocelyn Goldfein (Zetta Partners), and the industry icon Arnold Silverman.

Promethium’s mission is to democratize data and AI one question at a time. Let me explain. Enterprises and CDO’s are focused on becoming data driven and exploring the real value of applying AI to their enterprise data. A common theme is to get business users more direct access to enterprise data so they can make more informed, effective, and impactful decisions. A popular approach is to modernize organizations with data platforms that centralize data and then apply specific modern data stack point solutions to optimize data for each stage of its life-cycle on top (e.g., acquire, transform, prep). The challenge with this approach is that large enterprises have distributed and heterogeneous data environments - add to that a variety of SaaS applications and legacy data sources and the process gets exponentially harder. Modernizing and consolidating are great north stars, but in reality they are complex, disruptive, expensive, and all consuming. It leaves little oxygen to deliver access and insight around the high value data that the business needs NOW to drive decision-making. CDO’s and data teams struggle with this modernization drag. Particularly as the business wants rapid AI-driven insights, this drag becomes a stranglehold and pits the long term directional value vs. acute short to medium term needs of the business.

Promethium’s Instant Data Fabric addresses this problem by creating a relief valve around the modernization drag. With Promethium, data and business teams can immediately access distributed and heterogeneous enterprise data when they want or need to, without waiting for the modernization and consolidation to complete. The engagement and access is driven by a question and answer style interactivity, much like doing ChatGPT on enterprise data. This allows all users, not just power users, to access and get insights. Results are published in a reusable and transparent manner as Data Products, so that all future questions and requests can leverage past work and drive efficiency and governance. Taken together, this approach frees up CDO’s and data teams to innovate immediately while they continue to modernize for the longer term. And the best part is that this approach is completely seamless and non-invasive. The solution leverages an organization’s current data landscape and tools, and continues to do so as the data landscape shifts and modernizes. Put simply, it is future proofing at scale.

There are several data fabric architectures available today, but only one Instant Data Fabric. Thanks to Kaycee’s insights and Prometheans hard work and creativity, we have built the first data fabric that provides access and insight in minutes vs. months. Democracies are based on clarity and transparency that come from questioning and repeated questioning. Our mission is to drive this clarity and insight across the enterprise, starting with one question at a time.
